Hmm wasnt expecting this
I had a maroon clown in my tank now for close to 4 months, he had adopted some pink palys almost immediately. We this was over on one end of the tank and about a month ago I picked up a rose anemone and expected it to pick up and move. Well she didnt. So I figure, if I get a slightly bigger peaceful clown like a perc it would move into the rose and there wouldnt be a problem. I know what you guys are thinking at this point. Well I get a slightly bigger black and white perc and expect a little initial aggression as they figure out their territories and the perc moves into the rose. This didnt happen according to plan. I have a strange relationship forming. The chromis school picks on the perc who then picks on the maroon who in turn picks on the chromis. The perc seems to care less about the rose and seemingly wants the pink palys instead. I thought maroons were supposed to be tough guys, instead Nemo is harrassing him. Oh well, its the first day, hopefully territories will be established and things will settle.

What kind of fish did you add? There is no such thing as a black and white perc. Do you mean Black and White Ocellaris? Clowns are funny fish and anything can happen.

Murphy's Law, man.
Have you tried forcing either clown into the RBTA? I know it sounds kinda mean, but I had to scare my clown into my RBTA, but now he's a happy camper and rarely strays from the 'nem. |

Its only the first day. Thankfully the fighting has all been just some fin flapping on both parts. He actually seems to have lost interest in the maroon and is wandering around. How did you hold the clown down in it?
Black and white Oce? I always thought it was the other way around, there were no black and white Oce's and the percs were the commonly mutated colorforms. |

Dont "force" a clown to an anemone. That's a good way to end up with a dead clown. They aren't always immune to the stings. Sometimes they can go right in sometimes they get stung. Its risky.
Absolutely. Black and White Ocellaris or "Darwin Clowns" Trust me I have about 2500 of them in my basement |

I wasnt planning on it, I knew about the stinging part already, had to write a long paper about it in college. I was just wondering how one would go about doing it, I would hope it wouldnt involve physically holding the fish.

I read somewhere about someone holding up a picture of a clownfish in a nem, and that worked. I guess he had tried everything else for months, holds up a picture and his clown started hosting. Mine hosts my hairy mushroom.

Riiiiiiiight..... On a high note, I think he has noticed the actual anemone and the maroon has managed to defend his hairy pink palys so the new guy is leaving him alone. Problems averted hopefully.
