Does Wave Making Count for FLOW?

Ok, so I've been loving my MP40w's for a while now, and one of the cool features is that I can create a pretty good wave in my 120g mixed reef. It looks cool and all, but does it serve a functional purpose? Is it as effective in coral health as a flow that moves more water further?

Know what I mean?

What do you think?

B

in order to make a wave youve gotta move a pretty decent amount of water and water movement is flow my mp40w should be here in a week or so but ive heard corals really like the waves and random flow

Yes wave is good. All i had on my 180gal sps tank was a tunze wavebox and it did good. A lot of people will argue this but it's not about the speed of the water moving is the valume.
