Marooon clowns and perc clowns??
Hi all,
I have to take down my 26 bowfront, it has been infested with bubble algae and aptasia anenomes that have completely taken over the tank. I have 2 gold banded maroon clowns in there and I need to move them to my 210 mixed reef tank, BUT I already have a perc. clowns in the 210. The 210 has almost 300 lbs of LR so there are lots of hiding places but do you think they clowns will have issues with each other?????

Clowns do not get along unless there are introduced at the same time. And some times that doesen't work. different clowns different behaviors.

Just a thought, put a divider in there so they can't hurt the perc. This would at least give you time to decide which to keep. Not sure if this would be a permanent fix though

Also i want to add my clowns were in a 300 tank at the time with plenty of hiding spots... It didn't matter much. A divider as matty suggests is a good idea tho if you have no other option

I have large perc and medium maroon and they share the anemone, the large on beats the samller one once in a while but they get along for the most part... they were introduced at the same time though

I really dont have a wat to divide the tank because ofthe rock work in the tank now, the situation is my wife loves the perc's because they look line NEMO..... personally I like the maroons better but gotta keep mer happy, "if moma aint happy noone is happy" and once I put the maroons in it would be all but impossible to get either pair back out. I have read that they "may, wont and will" be compatable because of the size of the tank and am really confused about how to proceed. Maybe I would be better just seeing if I could get credit at my LFS for the maroons, I just dont know which way to go with this.....

Ya its one of them things where there isn't really a correct answer. I have fish in my tank that 90% of people tell me you can't put together and it has been over a year and everythings fine. If you throw him in, it might work out. If not, i know exactly what you mean by trying to catch him to get him back out. Took me bout 3 days and only cause i got lucky. And if you can't get him then momma's surely not gonna be happy. But if he works out, then momma and everybody and YOU are all happy!! Lol
I really wish i coulda kept my maroon clown in my main tank but he's in the kitchen now and has made friends with a GBTA and my girlfriends happy so no problems here

There is a huge difference between putting 2 clowns of different species in the same tank and putting 2 pairs in. They react much differently and will violently defend "their" home. "I really dont have a wat to divide the tank because ofthe rock work in the tank now, the situation is my wife loves the perc's because they look line NEMO..... personally I like the maroons better but gotta keep mer happy, "if moma aint happy noone is happy" and once I put the maroons in it would be all but impossible to get either pair back out. Killing your wife's Percs won't make her happy.. Maroons and Percs are 2 of the most agressive species. It can be hard to do with Ocellaris that are pretty placid. I'm not saying it can't work but Its really risky. |
