Help: piece of net stuck on fish

i got a new fish today but when i was moving it to my tank its dorsal fin got stuck in my net. I couldn't get it out so i just snipped the net. the net is still stuck on the fish. its only about the size of a pin head, REALLY REALLY SMALL. will it make its way off the fin or do i need to catch the fish? Hoping i didnt make a mistake by doing that because im probably not going to be able to catch the fish without emptying the tank.

I would think it will eventually get it off. In a 40g tank.. I'd probably catch it if its still there in a few days.

it has way to many places to hide that i cant get to that is why i dont want to ahve to catch it. Yes, its in a 40 breeder. Its still small, i will either upgrade when it gets to big or have to catch it then.

If its only a 40 it can't be a huge job to remove the rock. In my 190 it is a huge undertaking and I would just leave it and hope it survives. In a 40 its much easier. Lol you didn't say what kind of fish it is and you are defending the size of the tank

I have a 10 gallon that I wouldn't even remove the rock from to catch the fish .

You should be fine, keep an eye on him. If you notice any fungus growing on the spot, then you'll need to get him out and treat him pronto.

I had this happen with a catfish once and like you I was forced to cut the net leaving a small piece attached to the fin. It fell off by itself within a week or so IIRC.

I don't use nets, I use plastic containers.
