Sea Hares (Aplysia sp.) with Anemones?
I'm always worried and extra cautious when adding any livestock has the capacity to cause a catastrophe if it dies. I've heard and read Sea Hares (Aplysia sp.) release a dye which may or may not be toxic when stressed or when it dies. I'm not sure how easy it is to provoke these slug-like specimens to do this, so I'm looking for some feedback. I've heard some people have had theirs' disappear with no negative results, but I'm still worried.
Also, I would like to know if anyone had problems keeping these with large, over 12'', anemones which could sting the Sea Hare and may cause the release of the ''toxic dye.'' So I need to know how stupid these Hares really are? They definitely are slow physically, but mentally is what I'm investigating. Cause if it gets itself in the wrong place like near my anemone or on the overflow, it may not be adept enough to get away.
