coral food? im so confused help
hey guys, i was trying to buy coral food for my new aquarium. first time trying the reef . pls help me out. I was looking at diff variety of KENT marine coral food.
whats the diff between 1) phytophex phytoplankon and chromaplex phytoplankton? 2) what is microvert and zooplex? 3) i have refugium in my new aquarium. anyway i can take benefit of that for cultivating live food? do u have any refugium 101 guide on WHAT and HOW to cultivate and feed live food from refugium?? 4) how much do u feed them? and how do u know if you ARE overfeeding? or underfeeding? are they all diff kind of food for diff kinda corals? what do u guys feed corals? can u please answer all 4 of my questions. thanks a lot guys. |

these are all great questions, i only wish I had the answers. I am new to corals myself and will keep an eye on this thread to piggy back off you to learn for myself.

I use a mixture of DT's live phyto and shelf products like Kents. And ocassionally frozen.

Also depends on what you are feeding some LPS will take brine shrimp.

Couple of questions.
What lights do you have (( and what size tank )) And what type of corals do you have/plan on keeping. I keep mainly SPS and zoas, I have yet to add anything directly to the tank for them.

39 gallon, 150W metal halide light. so u dont feed them anything. i plan to keep something simple for beginners like Polyps and mushrooms.

For polyps and mushrooms, I don't see the need to fed them. Back when I kept them they grew just fine (( too good actually )) on their own.

I don't feed my corals at all. Just high power lighting, good water quality and fish poop is all my corals get.

Corals don't eat phytoplankton. I wouldn't anything to shrooms and zoas.

I personally don't use anything to feed to corals directly. I have a few friends that do and i really don't see any difference in color or growth between mine and theirs
