Unhappy 1 sps bleaching in time span of about 5 hours

I have had this beautiful unknown type of aquablue SPS fragfor some time now... it is at the top of my tank.. it has been a very slow grower but has had awesome color and polyp extensionand recently began showing some growth...earlier today when making my usual tank check and dosing my 2-part everything in the tank was just as always, including this SPS... tonight, upon coming down to feed the tank, lo and behold if this SPS has started to bleach from the tips down... what causes this and is there anything I can do?????? I really don't want to lose this coral... I have done nothing new or different forever...no new inhabitants, no new routines, nothing...

please help!!

How low was the Alk when you dosed, and how high was it after wards?

Tips down tissue necrosis tends to be from alkalinity, either changes too quickly, or it being too high.

Along with Toddrtrex's questions, what test kit are you using, and how old is it?

I dose 4 pumps of cal and alk everyday for months now... maybe even a whole year.....

my current parameters are

temp 80
SG 1.024
PH 8.2
Alk 11 dKh
Cal 480
Nitrates 0

only thing I can think of is that I just mixed up a new batch of calc and alk a couple of dsys ago...and I did move the return nozzle on the side where this SPS is, just a little bit down because it was tending to spray water a little... maybe it was directly hitting this SPS when I dosed the alk... I dose it in the sump of course, slowly and in a high flow area.. but maybe it is a little more concentrated right now because I just made it up...?????

11dkh is too high for my taste (I play in the 9dkh league) and directly spraying a dose of alk on a coral (from the return sump, where the concentration is very high after the initial dosage) is gonna p*ss any coral off. It'd maybe be best to try your luck in the SPS section?
When one of mine has necrosis, there isn't much I can do, wait hope and make sure the water values stay stable. Sorry, wish I'd have more info for you.

yes, i agree... 11dKh is too high ... I am going to slowly let it fall to about 9... and also if it got sprayed directly from the return with a fresh batch of alk it isn't going to be happy... I guess I will wait and see...
