40 gal cube tank and want T5's who much?

Hi
I have a 40 gal tank cube and want to run t5's in a sps tank... how many bulbs needed? 4 enough for sps and clams?

how tall is the tank?
4X39 should b enough

As long as its <18" high you should be alright. Make sure your fixture has individual reflectors for each bulb.

aslo consider the width of the tank. for something that is 18"-24" youll need 6-8 bulbs to get the best spread of light. this is when halides become much cheaper when lighting cubes.

with 4 t5 bulbs you will have a bright strip in the tank, so youll have to place your sps accordingly.

I ran 4 24" t5's retro on a 24"Lx 18"W and covered the whole tank well. Not really a cube though but your measurements have to be close.
