Leaving hood and/or cover off of tank
I know many people frequently do not keep a cover or hood on their tank and their tank is completely open.
Aside from fish trying to carpet surf, is there any other possible negative impact of doing this such as contaminates from the air getting into the tank such as dust or chemicals? Anyone know about this? I have been running this way for a few weeks now but I just wonder sometimes if it could cause any problems. |

i've never used a top on any of my tanks, it helps with oxygen exchange, lets more light through, and allows me to put a fan on it for evaporation

Sometimes bugs will get in the house and then they are attracted to the tank lights.
I saw my biggest clown eat a ladybug, but then spit it out. I've had to get moths out a few times. Other than that I think it will be ok..... |

i took the glass covers off my 210 cause it was heating up the tank from the halides, i just went to homedepot and got light diffuser panels (eggcrate) and just cut them to size and have had them on my tank for like 3 years now
