Got a new skimmer!

I finally got bit by the RedSea Prizm skimmer. O ring around the pump started leaking after a cleaning. Wife didnt like the slow leak onto her carpet, so I ordered a new skimmer with her blessing

Picked up the aquac remora HOB skimmer. I do not have a sump. My corals have been doing great even with the prizm skimmer. I read a ton about it and liked what I heard.

Install was a little frustrating because of how the pre-skimmer box fits onto the maxi-jet 1200 pump. Without the little maxi-jet nozzle adapter, the box wouldnt sit low enough in the water to let water into the box. DONT THROW AWAY THE ADAPTER IF YOU BUY THIS SKIMMER. You may need it later on.

Only other thing to note is that this skimmer is a bit loud. I researched the quiet mod for it and it worked.

Just stuff 2 paper towels down into the 1st chamber of the skimmer where the tube bends to point down. Its pretty dry in there, but it went from really annoying to really quiet very fast.

I also bought one for my bio cube 29 and it fit really nice with only a little cuttin on the hood. Ill take pictures and update the review in the coming days.

Congrats on your new skimmers.

One tip I learned is to make sure it's level. I mean actually put a level on it. I tried to eyeball mine and was way off. Small levels are cheap, if you don' have one.

Make sure it's level on all sides, front to back, top, ect.

It will work much better....
