Hey guys just joined up here when I got interested in starting my own saltwater aquarium. I have been lurking around a bit and have to admit there is a lot of great information here and everyone seems really cool. Anyway so I just purchased my live rock and took some pictures and wanted to get your opinions. My set up is:
22 Gallon Tank 4 bulb T5 lighting with 2 10k and 2 actinic Custom light stand (very custom haha) Whisper EX 45 Filter Red Sea Deluxe Prizm Skimmer Regular old water heater Crushed coral bedding And now here is the pictures: http://s768.photobucket.com/albums/x...tleb/Aquarium/ Let me know what you guys think and any suggestions are greatly appreciated!! |

Becareful with crushed coral. I used it in my last tank and it caused a lot of ditritus build up because the grain was too big.

Hey thanks guys! My friend told me I should try purple up to help out my live rock. Has anyone used this or think it is a good idea?

I'd leave the purple up alone. As long as you can keep your alk steady, everything else should fall into line.

I've used purple up with great success. However it's hard for some to add something to their tank that they can't test for.

UPDATE
**UPDATE**
I went up to my local fish store and had my water tested after only 2 weeks and he said i'm good to go and my cycle is complete!!!! I picked up some hermits to clean up algae and will be getting some larger snails to. He did say my PH was a little low so I was wondering what is a good PH Buffer that you guys use? |

Your live rock already looks pretty darn purple to me! Wish mine looked that good.
