Dropped my tank to 1.009 over 2 weeks and started counting hypo on july 14th. Today being home on a hot weekend watching the tank, I see my sailfin bleeny flashing on the sand and my Atlanitc blue flashed one or twice. W-T-F??? I thought ick was supposed to croak at 1.009? I am so pzzzd right now.

Are you monitoring the pH? It tends to drop in hypo and seems to cause some irritation when it does, just an idea. Also, sometimes fish just flash. That being said, hypo is not the most reliable treatment for crypt; hyposalinity tolerant strains are out there.

Ph if anything is a little high, by one point.

Yea, fish do flash, but, ol blenny did it 3 time i saw him, Atlantic twice and thought that two fish were odd.

Man, if I have the hypo resistant ones, that would blow.

Excuse my french in this post, i am just bent... Dang, make that a 4th time for the blenny now

mine did this as well in the first 3 weeks of hypo... I actually had a very bad case of ich and with patience I finally got rid of it but with a combination of things every three to four days I would take all fish out of the quarantine and put them in a bucket I would completely drain out the quarantine tank and wipe it it dry ...I would clean all of my pvc pipe and filters really well.. I would then refill the quarantine tank with good healthy water from my established tank half way then the rest of the way i would add fresh salt water being sure to have it at 1.009 I would then net the fish from the bucket and put them back into the qurantine tank I would wait another 4 days or so and repeat the above process... After about 8 weeks of this i slowly raised the salinity back up to 1.026 then for 5 days treated the tank with para guard then as I obsereved fish all were well andI put them in my main system it may seem like a very lot to do as well as its a pain in the but, but all fish are well and thriving and its been months now and knock I wood no signs of ich... this has been the only thing that has worked for me

Well, all fish are in my 90 so there is no way to drain that out once every 4 days. I plan to do that on my next batch though.

Might want to do some research on flukes as hyposalinity won't do much agauinst them and they often cause flashing in fish.
