DI question
So I'm going on 9 months with my very first ro/di and as the tds creeps from .1 to .3 I just replaced the di chamber for the first time (I already did the carbon/sentiment chambers). However now the tds jumped to 2.1 with the new chamber...which is even higher that the 1.6 comming out of the membrane. I ran it for 4 hours and it dropped like .1, that 's all. Is this normal?? If so how long do I have to run it before it starts polishing the water again?
Thanks! |

No ideas? So I take it this isn't a normal problem...maybe I got a bad di filter?

Not to worry. The DI resin sometimes contains some processing residue from manufacturing. It is always wise to pitch the first few gallons when changing resin but what did is not a major concern.

mmm...I'm probably up to about 30 gallons tossed out and the tds is still up there...but it has dropped from 2.1 to 1.5 ppm....

Check the seating on the cartridge. Sometimes there is some leakage around the seals and that will make the TDS climb.
