How many T5's for a 30'' deep tank?
I'm getting a 150 gallon tank thats going to be 48L X 24W X 30H. I am getting two 400W Halides and I was wondering how many and what wattage of T5's I should get for a 30'' deep tank?
I was thinking about 1 or 2 of these kits does that sound about right? http://www.championlighting.com/prod...cat=915&page=1 Thanks! |

I think I would do a 4 x 48" ICECAP retro kit. That tank is actually closer to 28".

when I buy the retro kit should I get two T5's for the rear and two T5's for the front or should all the T5's be together?
So This: -----------------------two T5's------------------- ------400W Halide---------400W Halide------ -----------------------two T5's------------------- Or this: ------400W Halide---------400W Halide------ -----------------4 T5's----------------------------- Thanks!

I've seen really nice tanks with the VHO in front and halides in back. But with T5 if it was me I would do two front and back. You can really get the color you want with T5 and MH. Ask in the equipment forum for bulb choice.

Some of the nicest tanks I have seen in person run either 400w Radiums 20k or 400w Reeflux 20k along with URI Super Actinic VHO's. For some reason, they have not been able to make an actinic T5 bulb that compares with it.
Good luck.
