could filter pads in a phosban reactor be a source of nitrate?
i run the two little fishes phosban reactor with gac in it. it has two sponge-like pads to keep the carbon from escaping. could that over the course of a month or so become a source of nitrates in a 60g system?

Yes, but I wouldn't worry to much about it. You should clean it when you change your carbon.
