Phoenix + Which T5 Bulbs? = Better color

Hi guys,

I am replacing my 1 year old EVC DE 10K bulbs to Phoenix DE 14K. I have 2 x 39w T5 URI Super Actinic right now. I want to know what's everyone's Phoenix + T5 combination is for even better color (POP). Thank you.

I have 2 250watt 14k phoenix with 4 T-5's. I am running 2 giesemann Atinic, a Fuji purple, and a ATI Blue+. I really like the coloring.

I heard some people said that phoenix will wash out pink & red. I want to add 1 fuji purple just for the pink and red. Do you guys think 1 fuji purple & 1 URI super actinic will look good with 2 x phoenix?

you can try it. May not be enough atinic tho. You can always add more T-5 later for a different look.

Does giesemann actinic+ give you more POP than URI super actinic? Which T5 bulb give you the MOST POP?

giesemann claim that there T-5's are the closest to super vho atinic oyu can get in a T-5. I really like mine, but cant say if they are better then any other brand other then cheap bulbs.

I will say that the fuji purple is really nice and helps some of my corals pop really nicely.

With a Phoenix 14K you might really get some great color pop with an ATI Blue+ and one of the Fiji Purple, as mentioned above. I have a Fiji Purple over my tank in a 4-tube combo and LOVE it.

I would do two or one aquablue specials w/ Fiji purple, the Phoenix 14s IMO are almost the same as 20k if not the same bulb, the 250's are so bright and blue I think you should add some more white/red spectrum

I run one Geisman pure actinic and one actinic plus. I was running 2 actinic plus and I like the current look better. I still feel like it could be better though.

Very nice tank! How do you compare phoenix/giesemann actinic+ with your current radium?

Phoenix and Fiji purple alone will not look right. I have 2x250w Phoenix bulbs on a icecape e-ballast with 2x54w giesemann actinic+ and the color is amazing I all ways wanted to add 1 or 2 fiji purple to see if it helps. But the combination alone if good enough.

Does anyone know which one looks brighter and give you the most pop? Giesemann's Actinic+ or true Actinic? Thank you.

I've tried the true actinic for a week then took them out..too purple in color for me, not very natural. I took them out and went all actinic+.

yes, I know run a 400w radium over my tank and my growth and color are way better than the old set-up. Radium's are the real deal. I run it unsupplemented and the color is a nice crisp white with blue where you need it. I'm in the planning for a bigger tank and will be running 2 400w radiums and probably get some supplements just for dawn dusk, for that I def will be using the actinic+, best color actinic bulb in my opinion

I use 2 blue+ actinics with my 14k phoenix bulbs on a mag ballast.
Keep in mind your ballast will dictate how much blue you see in your 14k. Mag HQI ballasts will burn them much whiter and require deeper actinic supplementation than if they are run on an electronic ballast.

Just keep that in mind.
