what size return

what size return pump should be on a 90g tank?? i had a small pump(unknown gph) and today i on a gx600 pump(around 1500gph i think) the pump is so quick that the tank barely has enough time to drain, its like a 1/2 inch from over flowing... i really like the flow, but i dont like that i cant put on my overflow silencer(so i have that great vaccum sound)..someone help

mag 9.5 on mine too...

If you have good power heads for flow in the tank you dont need a lot of flow from the returns.

My tank used to run with a mag 7 by the previous owner and it had decent flow. With the mag 9.5 it has alot more flow, and I like it much better. If your return pump has more gph than your overflow can handle, the problem you are having will persist. In my opinion, you should get a pump with less gph than you have now and add some powerheads.
