Question is this a water change?

Hi,
Yesterday I added my 40gallon Long Sump. I added maybe 25-30gallons of Ro/di water with the salt, adding this to my 75gallon display tank, would that be considered a water change also since its new water and adding now having a much larger system?
Thank You

I had to read it a few times... but yes by adding all that new water diluted the tank a bit. so you should be good til next scheluled water change.

Yes, that can be considered a water change.

And not necessarily, adding a sump shouldn't trigger anything providing it's just the sump with the heater, skimmer and the return pump (and some chaeto with a lamp certainly wouldn't hurt).

Since you didn't change any water, no it wasn't a water change. Depending on what your goal was with the water change it may have accomplished the same thing though.

Why does it matter to you that it count as a water change?

You added some minerals and dilluted nutrients... though you did not technically remove any.

Actually not a water change but serves the right purpose.
