differant colors...i had a rose mille the turned green on the base and around the edges and a dark blue mille that the same thing is happening too. i unfortunately went through a phase where i got lazy and was dumping tap water into my tank as topoff water, this lasted about 6 mos. and over the course of the last 2 months i have been i have been doing bi-weekly water changes of about 20% as well as only using distilled (i dont have an ro/di unit) water as my topoff water. at the rate im going with my water changes how long should it be before i can see a reverse in this?

soooo....any idea on how long it may take to reverse the green tint on my sps corals if keep up with proper water changes? 1 month? 6? also what would be the best way to remove the phosphate? im doing 20% water changes every other week and running a phosban reactor with seachem seagel as my media. any other ideas? thanks?

I would change media and run the bulkreefsupply high capacity GFO. I will take quite a bit of media to get things under control if your SPS are turning green. It could be your rock leaching phosphates.

I would change media every week or so for a pound or so of media. Then go monthly after that. JMO

what kind of rock would do that? in may i bought a 40 lb box of this dry reef rock, i cant even remember the name of it right now....could that have done it?i actually never really had this problem until after i added that rock...i just never thought it was the rock and just assumed it was from me dumping the tap water in there for about 6 months. ill see if can dig up the name of the company i bought it from

The idea is that rock can absorb phosphate and then leech it out later. Your tap water is a much more likely reason for high phosphates than your rock having it bound in it.

ahhh. i see. i guess i'll just keep up with my water changes then to continue to try and reduce the PO4 in the water. any idea how long LR can hold the phosphate and leech it back into the water?
