Please identify/confirm what this is [pic]

What is this? It's already moved a few inches since I first spotted it....

If its a problem - how do I kill it?

Thanks!

appears to be an anemone. It does not look like a majano( pest anemone). Maybe a rock anemone, Hitchhiker? Look under "First time Here on RC" they have a hitch hiker guide.

I would still remove it...it doesn't look exactly like a majano but close enough for me.

Looks to be some type of flower/rock anemone. Definitely not Aiptasia sp., probably some type of Epicystis sp.

Why not...many people purchase these and like to have them in their tanks...

OP it won't multiply fast enough to become a plague..if it doesn't suit your likes you can remove them at later time, you will not all of a sudden have 20 of them.

Yeah it looks like a rock/flower anemone.
They Should not rapidly spread, but will sting any corals that touch it...
If you like it, Keep it. Should not cause a problem

okay very good to know.

i just didn't want, like Sandra said, 20 of them overnight.

they're not particularly pleasing to the eye though, but I will allow it to remain.

Thanks !

actually it just dawned on me this might be why my Frogspawn has recoiled in the last week or so. It appears to be shrinking and I suppose it is because this nem creaped too close to it and stung it.

You can't just scrape ande anemone off a rock. To do so, would certainly injure it's foot which could lead to it's death. I've had success removing anemones by placing an ice cube near it's foot and as it begins to release, gently pry under it with your fingernail.
