GEN-X pump

I have a GEN-X pump that is making a very high pitch noise when turned on and sometimes it won't start, just makes a humming sound and you have to help it by turning the back fan with your hands. I was told that probably needs the bearings replaced. Anybody have any experience with this pumps? Thanks

Hi j, Never used one, but from what I've read here they are a bit noisy. Me,personally, I wouldn't spring for repairs, etc. I'd replace it with a Japanese Iwaki. More in initial investment but a proven quality pump. And quieter than most externals with the exception of the Poseidon/Velocity pumps which because they have no fan add 4-8 degrees of heat to the water. Just my humble opinion.
