Brigtness between 150w & 250w

I have a 150w guiesmann nova on my 26" cube with 1 white aquaray & 2 blue aquarays.........but it seems a bit dull during the day to me...........Now i know that a 250W will penetrate deeper down but is there much difference in brightness?

I will be upgrading my (4) 96 watt 50/50 bulbs soon to (3) 250w 14k hallides in the near future. I will still use (2) of the 96w pc's for acintics. I have all softies but would like sps in the future which is the reason for the upgrade. My question is what is the best way...once done...to aclimate my tank/corals to the new light? I assume reducing the photo period but how much? Also should I plan to have a hanging canopy where I have a lot of room above. Should I raise it high and lower it slowly until I reach the proper height?

I think you answered your own question. Since there is more PAR and deeper penetration, yes there will be more brightness. The difference between a 150w and 250w is noticeable in person.

yes and no

depends on your bulb. for example a 150w radium will create about the same amount of par as a 250w ushio 20k.

so lets say your fav bulb was the ushio, and you were thinking of upgrading to get more par, it might be worth considering a different bulb to get that par without the extra heat/ec cost.
