SBGRAD24's 90 gallon tank thread

Not much of a build thread, just a few pictures of my newest tank. Initially set up in early August '09, but a leaky sump kept me from getting the overflow running. It sat 3/4 full with Koralias for flow until I was able to have a new sump built. Everything was up and running on 9/6/09.

Specs:
90 gallon reef-ready acrylic tank
30 gallon sump with built-in 'fuge
Euro-Reef CS6-2 skimmer
4x54w T5
Ocean Runner 2500 return pump
2 x Koralia 3's
100 lbs live rock
1" SSB

Creatures:
2 x Oscellaris clowns
Six-line wrasse
Fighting conch
Various snails

Corals:
2 x Kenya Tree frags
GSP
Toadstool frag (neon green)
Various shrooms

Here's my sump with built-in 'fuge. I tried to split the drain so it would drain into the left side of the sump and feed the 'fuge, but I just couldn't make it work very well without a wye fitting (couldn't find it locally and didn't want to wait for mail order). It was much easier to just tee off from the return and use a ball valve to allow a little bit of flow into the 'fuge.

Very nice. I like the way the sump is set up with the refugia on the right and return in the middle. I hadn't thought of that way of doing it.

There are a ton of pods in the display tank and in the 'fuge. Most of them came in on the live rock but quite a few were living in the chaeto I purchased.

SBGRAD24, could I ask what make of sump is that? Wouldn't mind getting one similar when I set up.

Thanks.

I had it custom made by a local guy here in San Diego. It's not his regular job, he just builds a few on the side to supplement his income.

Ah, OK. I'll add this page to my favorites and try and find someone nearer the time to do the same for me. Thanks.

Be careful with the fire fish, you might need a cover for them, I lost one to jumping.

The tank is fully covered on top. I drilled a few small holes for cords and such, but they would really have to make a perfect jump to squeeze out.

I got it from a guy who was tearing down his tank. A few hitchhikers, but otherwise really nice. Thanks.

Nice, clean set up. I like the way you have the star polyps on the "bridge" for a better word. It looks like you could slip it out to cut them back and keep them under control. Nice yellow leather also, I just passed one up and now and kicking myself.

Thanks! It took hours to finally create something I liked, but I'm very happy with it.

That was the idea for putting the GSP on the bridge. That piece can be pulled out without affecting the other structures, so it should be easy to keep the GSP under control.

The yellow leather is definitely my favorite type of coral.
