Brand New Filtersocks now what?
How do you wash them? Just throw them in the washer no soap then hang dry? It is best to wash them when they are new to remove loose fabric right?

I would personally dunk them in old saltwater (when you do your waterchanges) and then just use them.

I would not recommend above... you are not removing organics this way... take an extra bucket, put water and 1/2 cup bleach, and simply soak them until you get enough of them ready to wash. Turn them inside out, and dump in to the washing machine with the water and bleach from bucket, add another splash of bleach and run on normal cycle. After the cycle, simply allow them to air dry, the bleach will evaporate, and now you have clean socks. I have used this method for years..no issue at all. The idea is to allow the socks to become a mechanical filter, one that traps particle matter, the skimmer does the rest. I would also advise daily or bare minimum, every other day changing of the socks.
Good Luck!

Do you have to do anything to a new sock before use?
