Bulb change acclimation

How do i acclimate the coral to new MH bulb.
Again i end up bleaching my montipora, streesing my hammer (Turn white was green and brownish)
I can't raise the lights so what else can i do, so i don't have to kill anymore corals due to bulb change.

layers of window screen (start with 3 or 4 remove 1 layer every 4 to 7 days)

Hide coral in shadow of rock work, moving it out more each week

Start coral at bottom of tank.......raise it up weekly

Screens seem like a good idea. Most corals can't move like the montpora that was connected to a few rocks

Raising the light fixture, then slowly lowering it down back into place is another option if you can do it (basically the same result as a few layers of screen).

The corals will need to adjust to the new intensity. Shortening the photperiod does nothing to address this, I haven't seen that suggested, but just thought I would mention it.

This what I do when I add mh lighting to a tank that didn't have it before.

When I change out my bulbs I do the same thing but I usually get by with 3 layers of window screen, (which I support with some eggcrate ) then remove one layer about every 3-4 days.

I just adusted my photo period from say 7 hrs to 2 and adjust weekly until you reach your desired lighting period. Plus it doesn;t cost anything, another reason I like it
