Taking out a dart and replacing it with an askoll pump will this work?

And by work I mean when i remove the dart that has too much flow and makes too much noise as my return pump. My thoughts was to replace it with two askoll 1500. One each feeding a 1 inch sea swril. When I remove the dart I will be left with a 2 inch bulk head hole. Can i just plumb it down to a two part manifold to feed the two askoll pumps? Or would the be a problem with two pumps pulling water from the same feed pipe?

Thoughts please.

I guess another thought is just to step up to the Flow Star 3200
MaxFlow 3200 GPH ant tee it off to feed the two sea swrils.

Why replace too much flow with too much flow? Why do you need 3000 GPH+ of return flow?

Thats why i was looking at the two 1500 when you add 5 feet of head they drop down to about 8oo-900 gals each
I think that would be a good match.

The numbers dont make sense to me. How much return flow do you need for a system of that size? You want 1600 - 1800 GPH through a 50G sump? Can your overflows handle that much? I run a 180G with a 75G sump and have FAR less return flow than that. How much flow were you getting from the Dart? They are flow pumps and rely on the large diameter plumbing and low head for the big flow numbers.

Aside from the noise, why not just gate down the dart and save some electricity? I run a barracuda to run my 180, a 70 tech, and a 45 cube, as well as low flow fuge. After the plumbing and the runs and the head, I wish it had more juice. The reeflo pumps do lose gph FAST with any backpressure.

Yeah I dont know scott the dart is a left over from my 330 gall tank. I used it because i had it. Its too much so i am going to down grade to a smaller pump the numbers are far less then listed once you add plumbing and head. I am not sure why you think about 10x turnover is so extreame?

Yeah the dart was perfect for my last tank a 330 buts just to much for my 200. i have it dialed back and the flow is fine now that its dialed back, its the noise its funny my last tank was in a big great room and seemed really quiet. this tank is in my office with tiled floors and its just too loud. I heard the flow stars are dead quiet so i am looking at making the swap.
