Cycling (Kh?)

Does anyone know what a good KH range is for a 10 gallon reef. I am cycling on about my 2nd week and for some reaosn that is the only level that is off the Charts at 240

What kind of salt mix are you using? I wouldn't worry too much about KH right now. What kind of test kit are you using?

between 7-11 dkh is a good range to shoot for. i'm not aware of the conversion to ppm, so you'll have to do a little research into what that is, but in the terms i use, that's the range.

I'm using Red Sea Coral Pro Salt...and API 5 in 1 Test kit. I Heard a high Kh doesnt really matter (as the corals may actually like it?) But, for now that is the only high level i can detect on the test strips. Thanks for your help, let me know if you find out!

Test strips iMO arent the best to use to test anything....

240 in meq/l is 6.7 dkh, thats a little low not off the charts, however at this stage of the cycle who cares, as mentioned dont worry about it yet

240 was the highest reading they had available on the chart. The strips I'm using are APi 5 in 1 it measures in ppm

well i cant acknowledge that reading. dont worry too much at the moment, unless you adding lime into the water its unlikely to be much of a problem, id suggest you buy a proper alkalinity kit

Look into buying yourself some reliable test kits. Salifert makes easy to use test kits that give reliable results.
