Invert them inside out. Run them through the washer without soap. You can use a little bleach if you want. Then run it a second time with just plain water. Let dry. That's it.
PS - don't let the wife know you put fish poop in her washer. |

Here’s what I do,
Turn them inside out run them on the "whites" setting in your washer. add about 1/2 cup of bleach. (Nothing else). After its done turn them right side out and wash them again without anything, let them air dry and they are good to go. EDIT: beat me to it. So in other words ^^^ +1

I just pull them inside out and run them with a dash of bleach and an extra rinse cycle. Then I let them air dry before using them.

I clean them by hand. Every 2-3 swap outs I do the above in the washer.

After reading a thread similar to this and getting the same responses. I washed mine in the washer too with a cap full of bleach and air dried. No drama on the first wash. On the 2nd wash, after they air dried. I put one in and noticed my skimmer skimming bubbles which also had the color spectrum in the suds/bubbles. I now spray them with the hose.

You're supposed to clean filter socks?????
HA, Just kidding, really though, I have always just sprayed mine with a hose, inside and out with no problems, when they start not rinsing very well I replace them. But I think i might try the bleach with the washer trick.
