strange hitch hicker...ID?

saw these on my LR when i brought it home, they were very small maybe 1/8" long. they almost look like a slug, but they have a small shell that sits on their back. they grew significantly in the past week and are now about 1/2" long, but there shell is much smaller. Tried to take pics but it was very blurry and hard to see.

They have 2 lare antenna, and move very quickly for slug/snail species. also i have noticed they are kinda nocternal as they tend to run and hide when the lights come on.

anyone have any ideas what this might be?
