55 gallon tank

Just currently in the stages of setting up a reef tank, few questions: i currently have a 10 gallon tank which i was thinking of converting into a sump would that be adequate. Any ideas on a simple sump plans would be awesome.

Thanks Daniel

What equipment are you planning to keep in the sump?

You can use the 10 gallon as a sump but If you can larger I would, larger is always better with aquriums as there is more water vloume.

With a sump that small, it willbe alomst impossible to fit in a heater, skimmer return pump.

For plans some just leave the sump emty with no chambers. But most put in bubble traps or baffles. Heres my 40 breeder I made.

I just cut some 1/4 acrylic to size so it fits tight, routered teeth in one panel, and siliconed the rest in place.

Bigger is better. There is always needed room in a sump.

Really depends on the skimmer & return pump you choose. Do you already have these items?

More volume is nice but having room for your skimmer and pump is the absolute minimum. You can also go the external skimmer/pump route as well if space allows it.
