etss reef devil, lots of bubbles in display.

just purchased a used etss reef devil and the amount of bubbles it puts in the sump and display is crazy. im running it with a quietone 3000. it replaced a errs100 because i think the rs100 was to big. the cup would just turn brown and stop skimming after a day or to. i was hoping the more narrow reef devil wouldnt do that .

Mine put out a lot of bubbles during break-in. Also, having the discharge exit at the surface of the water with the black foam sleeve around it will help. I ultimately did not have room for that so I just have it exiting underwater after the gate valve and have a block of foam in my baffles before the water reaches the return pump. In addition, a constant water level is a must because once you are dialing it in, turning that gate valve just a tiny bit will change your skimming quite a bit....If that sucking sound from the intake is getting on your nerves, let me know; I've got a fix for that.
