What happens when a coral grows onto two separate rocks
I have a small colony of prism favia that i am placing close to two rocks... when it grows it looks like it'll get on both pieces... How would one go about separating them in the future if necessary???

there was a thread about that in the lps section a while ago. Maybe do a search in lps forum?

It will attach to both rocks. Separating them would probably require fragging the coral such that it remains on both rocks.

what if lets say i was trying to move something in my tank and accidentally bumped one of the rocks and it shifted a bit... would it damage the favia?

Yes, it would probably break it. Chances are it wouldn't get to the point that it encrusted enough that it couldn't be popped off of the rock for some time. I am thinking years really. If it did, then only a small amount would have to be left on the rock when you wanted to move it.

It will break at the weakest link which is usually the bond between the coral the rock, but it totally depends on the case, if the coral is thin enough it might break in two, leaving chunks on each rock.
I wouldn't worry about, it's normal to have occasional breakages in a reef tank.

if it attaches to both rocks you may be able to break the rocks and coral apart and have two pieces.
