how to get hitchhikers

So I'm new to this and trying to understand. Is it poossible to get hitchhikers on dry rock or does it have to have been kept wet since being collected?

umm no underwater creatures need water to live... youll find the coolest hitchikers off of very long time, cured rock wich means its been sitting in a tank/ocean etc. for a very long time. if you want lots of rly cool hitchhikers, try tampabayliverock

+ 1 for tampa. Heard and read a lot of good things. One good story was the live rock came with an octopus and they used club soda to get him out of the rock. I love lookin in my refug because it has tons of little guys working in there. If you have a refug you can swap cheato and get hitchhikers from other peoples tanks. Good Luck

Remember though, not all hitchhikers that will come in are good!!

umm i dont know how tampa bay is now but my boyfriend had it in his tank once and it was a type of rock which made algea grow like crazy and was unmanageable, but that was a really long time ago. good luck
