That's a very good system. You can't go wrong with Spectrapure.

unless your water rates are insanely expensive, i think the UHE system you see for $900 is a little overkill. A regular maxcap system would do you fine and save you some bills. Add a piggy back second RO unit and you have a really good performer at less than half the cost.

Any of the ones from bulkreefsupply, filterguys, buckeyefield supply all would work fine. You can get a perfectly good RODI sytem for less than $175, one fifth the cost of that UHE spectrapure unit. It would take me decades for that unit to justify its extra cost.
What are your water costs per HCF?(hundred cubic feet)

I do not think it is any better then your standard RO system. I set one up and after a bunch of calls and hassle setting it up they didn't supply it with the right connections. After modifying the harnesses and mounting all these extra modules to the wall I will never go with a system like that again.
In the end you get 0tds out of a $200 filter or 0tds out of a $900 filter. The $200 filter is easy to install, use, and service. The $900 filter has a bunch of stuff that can break. IME making something as simple as a RO unit as complex as one of these systems is pointless and unnecessary.

Oh good Lord man, don't spend over $250 on a unit!!
thefilterguys.biz (my favorite unit is the reef+1) airwaterice.com melevsreef.com (least favorite of the units) buckeyereefsupply.com (ask for Russ he is on this site a lot and is a great guy) 100 gpd, quality builds, all of these sites are sponsors of Reef Central and they are on here all the time for advice, tips and troubleshooting with your unit. |

I agree with all but the 100 GPD. The 75 GPD is more efficient at removing TDS, and it will prolong the life of resins.

Might I suggest some reading first? Here are a number of articles that you may find of use in making your selection (from whomever).
http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/fo...play.php?f=229 Also, do a search on RO or reverse osmosis or RODI and see what comes up. A little ytime spent up front determining your needs based on your water conditions will go a long way to selecting the system for your needs. Hope this helps bruce |
