Salt Mix

I'm Currently using Instant Ocean, and thinking of changing salt mix. What is the medium to good grade salt you guys recommended out there in the LFS? Tank is a fish only tank with a few Kenya trees and Mushrooms. (Oceanic, Seachem, Red Sea, ect.,) When I change salt do I do a slow transition or change it right away? Thanks

Like anything else, take it slow.

My LFS was telling me to switch to a different salt because I was thinking about buying more corals. They want me to upgrade to a better salt so my corals will grow healthy and faster.

I'm wondering when this stuff is going to come out. I think it has the potential to be a powerhouse in the market.

Instant Ocean is a great salt. In the past it was better for a FOWLR tank ( fish only with live rock )....It didn't have the calcium....ect levels for a Reef Tank.

However....Billybeau1, ( salt chem god ) said that IO has changed there levels.

Ive heard IO changed their formula too, more calcium for sure. I can't remember the rest.

I'm transitioning to Red Sea Coral Pro just on personal preference. No other reason than a gut feeling.

As I stated....IO has changed their salt mix. I would still look at the levels in the new salt mix & look at what corals that you will want to keep & what they need.

Check out this thread

http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1714505

It has info about what is in the common salt mixes. It can give you a good idea of what is the best for your needs. You can find it in the reef chemistry forum as a sticky at the top.
