SWC 300a2

I am thinking about upgrading to a tank 8x4x2 with maybe a 150-200 gallon fuge and a sump not to big just to hold the skimmer.

What i am wondering is, I love Swc skimmers as i have a 200 on my 150 right now, but the 300 or 350 isnt big enough to support this big tank. Would it be possibble to add 2 askoll pumps to the 300 body rather then the siccies? Or is that just going to be to much air? Or does the 350 have a bigger body diam. and would it work on that one. Maybe even throw the extended neck on there.

Thanks

No way it can handle two askoll's as its being pushed to its limit with one. If you did mod that guy i'd take an askoll and drill the body so its not restricted. The new 300a that came out was upgraded to a 6" neck and larger bp to accomodate the askoll pump. Sounds like a nice upgrade you are doing there! Thats a great size for a tank.

Why not get the MSX300A and sit it next to your msx200. I don't think you will find a body that really does a well stocked 500g tank. Then when they make a MSX 500 with twin askols you can sell your two and get it. The resale value is there.

If the the 350 uses 3 pumps doing MAYBE 42scfh with the mesh on all of them and the askoll is pulling 70scfh

so thats 126scfh total with ther siccies

and

140-160 with the askolls is that little bit just too much air.

Maybe i will just go with 2 300a

If you were to get a 350 you would have three sicce's.......puke! I'd just do a couple 300a's myself for that large of system. They pull 90+ scfh's on all the reviews i've seen so far.
