Recharging DI resin

Hi y'all,

Do any of you recharge your spent DI resin? I would like to try the method published last year in Reefkeeping magazine. Unfortunately local Lowe's don't carry Lye, and another hardware store has liquid lye only. I am wondering if I can use liquid lye without diluting it. Do any of you know if that works?
