I ran hot water through my RO/DI!

I turned the hot tap instead of the cold on my tap, and I in the middle of the night my fresh water container was overflowing! I guess because it makes more filtered water when the input water is hot.

Now my ro/di unit seems to be producing water about twice as fast all the time! Did I really mess it up? If I cooked it what filters should I replace?

Thanks

Your RO membrane is fried. Get a new one.

Anything over 113 F probably ruined your membrane. Your hot water is probably about 140 F

Thanks guys! Do you think I need to replace my mixed bed resin or any of the pre filters. I have been running this thing for a month or two with the cooked RO filter. Also, this thing has been working for two years now.

The bright side is now I have an excuse to upgrade to a 100 gpd. It is a 25 gpd now and it used to be painfully slow.

I would probably replace all the filters at once to avoid any confusion on which ones got ruined.

Upgrade to a 75gpd or spectapures 90gpd they both have 98% rejection which will give you better water than a 100gpd they only have about 90% rejection. You will also have to change your flow restrictor for the new membrane. Your resin will be exhausted if your membrane is shot and you have been running it for a month, I would replace both. Replace sediment and carbon if they are close to 6 months old.

Some 100 GPD units have 98% rejection rates as well including the unit from melevsreef.com
