Can RO be used in this way?
Hi all,
Having read somewhere that RO units (much bigger than those we normally used, obviously) are now widely use for desalinisation (changing salt water to fresh water), I am thinking if those small unit we normally use can be hooked up likes below for maintaining of Ca/KH: tank water │▼ │▼ │▼ waste water RO ------------------> tank │▼ │▼ fresh water │▼ Kalk reactor │▼ │▼ Kalkwasser │▼ tank The problem is whether the RO unit is up to the job and provide water "fresh" enough. I don't think we need a high output rate as 1 or 2 gallons of kalkwasser everyday (without increasing the water volume) should be enough for most tank. It certainly can help to maintain PH! Any views? Neo Last edited by neoyhng; 11/09/2009 at 02:19 AM. Reason: the chart messed up |

Without the RO the Kalk will percipitate all CO3 out of the seawater, forming CaCO3 solid and become useless.
