Here's the most cost effective RO unit.
From our own "Melev" from RC. http://www.melevsreef.com/ro_di.html Good luck! :-)

You will need a water storage container (its size is up to you, but the bigger the better). If you live in the mid-west i was suggest getting a hold of Russ@buckeyefieldsupply.com. He is easily the best RO/DI guy in the region when it comes to answering questions and selling great equipment.
If not, any 75 GPD system should work just fine for you. You might have to use a booster pump if your water pressure is not sufficient (you will need it to be around 60-80 psi...most houses are 40 psi) which can cost around $100 on top of your Ro/di unit. Good luck! |

I forgot to mention, it might be advantageous to test your tap water before buying a unit. My tap water is up around 700 TDS, which is quite hard to "clean" with a RO/DI unit. I was going through membranes every 6-9 months and DI resin every 2 months. For the amount of water i use, its marginally cheaper for me to support my lfs lol...

I just got mine from Russ at buckeye field supply and it was absolutely amazing in quality. It looks like it came straight from a laboratory that is how much quality and craftsmanship is in it.
Don't even look anywhere else, talk to Russ! |

For the money you will spend the same buying the 75gpd unit from Russ at Buckeye Field Supply and that unit will come with a RO split so you get RO water for drinking without wasting your DI resin plus buckeye field supply throws in a 20,000 gallon chlorine filter when he builds the unit.
$169 for the 75gpd unit (see link). http://buckeyefieldsupply.com/showpr...ry=168&Sub=166 I'll take pics of mine this afternoon and show you the depth of quality with the unit. Check this thread out around 4pm CST and I'll have them up by then. |

Buckeye is in Cincinnati i beleive, so Jersey is still pretty close.
Not to steal a buck from Melev (he deserves everything he can get), but buckeye really is a great resource and is much closer to you than Melev. |

I got recommended by a few friends about www.airwaterice.com for typhoon III models. Anyone have any experience with these guys? They're a little pricier but you get what you pay for huh? Just wanted to see if anyone else got these models and have any comments about them. Thanks in advance.

Or another option is to go without. I mix my own seawater in tapwater and have done so for 6 years without any problems. I store it in 20 litre drums too, no need for a big storage tank.

I also have the Premium Series 75 gpd from BFS (http://buckeyefieldsupply.com/showpr...ry=168&Sub=166) and it is running great. 135 tds water goes in, 8tds comes out of the RO, 0tds out of the DI. comes with a valve for RO only, tds meter and pressure gauge. Came a touch under $200 with a sink connect shipped to Connecticut.
So far I have no regrets. |

Any of the sponsors are good, everyone is chiming in with what they have as the best. THey are all the similar and quality.
I have had from the filter guys and now spectrapure and they are both great. Spectrapure right now has a 90gpd with dual tds meter and pressure guage for 165 shipped. Best price I could find.

Pretty good deal, but I can get this on ebay for about 100$
http://cgi.ebay.com/RO-DI-water-puri...item5ad1a572a6 The unit hes trying to sell doesn't have any filters and buying them would probably cost 40 bucks or more so I might as well buy a new one for the same price. Quote:

I have been using the OceanReef +1 from thefilterguys for a few years now. I have 1 unit at my home & 1 unit at my office. I love them.
I'm sure that the other units that are talked about here are fine also. The bottom line is to get a 0.0 TDS reading.
