not really, i mean you can get a decent camera for $200 but nothing especially for photographing corals,

the main lens most people use is a 105mm macro lens and costs about $500-600 on it's own

not sure if you will still be able to get one but my Sony F717 used to take pretty decent coral macros. The Fuji S7000 used to be a great camera for this too. There are lots of compact cameras out now that will take good shots. Coral macros aren't really that difficult providing your technique is good.

You don't need a dedicated macro lens to take photos of your aquarium. What you should probably look for, though, is a decent point and shoot with a "macro mode", reasonably good optical zoom, and use a tripod. You can probably find this sort of gear for less than a few hundred dollars, total.

Biggest issue you'll find is the reflection off the glass. Ideally you'd want a lens with a CP Filter (Circular Polarizer) Unfortunately nothing in a 200 range. You can make a P&S work just make sure you turn off all the lights in the room so that you dont get any reflections.

Also good for taking to the beach or out on a boat, with no worries about getting it wet and ruining a really nice camera. Its only 160 bucks. I dont own it, but im buying it for myself for xmas, I've checked it out at the store, and it has good reviews on the website.

There's several P&S cameras that will take great coral pictures, for under $200.00. You also do not need a CP filter. I shoot with a DSLR and 100mm Macro, but my girlfriend's Sony P&S takes amazing coral pics too.

I ruined my sony cybershot in canada last month. The camera was $499 new. I found the same camera on ebay for $119. Lightly used.

I own an underwater housing specific to this camera which is why I wanted to get the same camera again.

Theres great deals on cameras on ebay. Youve just got to know what you want
