buying salt

Hello,
I am shopping for salt and i have decided on reef crystal as the brand but my question is i bought a 50 gal. bag online but what i dont get does it make 50 gallons of salt water or is it 50 gallons of salt because i didnt know how much to buy.

thanks looks like i better buy some more cause i dont think only 50 gals. of salt water in a 120 gal. tank will look right lol

also keep in mind that's 50 gallons mixed to prob 1.021...i keep my tank at 1.025..so factor in the extra salt to get it to your specific level..-Drew

Yes, I'd guess more like 40 g of saltwater.

Actually, Buy at least a couple 5 gallon buckets. They make 16o gallons at 1.021, so you'll use most of the first bucket on fill up. The second will be for water changes and in case of emergency. Oh, and its way cheaper per gallon.

+1, plus the empty 5-gallon buckets are quite useful for mixing up more saltwater! (at least for small tanks like mine....)

Next time get the 200 gallon box. Drsfostersmith.com has shipping secured with fedex for $5.99 ground with fedex. I bought my 175 gallon red sea coral pro and it shipped from Wisconsin and it was in my hands in 2 days from the day I bought it online.

The reef crystals 200 gallon box is a great buy if you want Instant Ocean brand.
