Your parameters aren't perfect. But they never are. I think the hihg pH of 9.0 is the the most likely to be a contributing factor to your problem.
Not really sure what "a" is? You might want to look into getting some different bulbs for your MH's other than your 6,000k's.

temp 80 This seems good
ph 9.0 This seems very high What are you using to test sp 1027 This seems a little high, but nothing major I shoot for 1.026 khppm 160.7(9dh) This seems good ca 440 This seems good nrite 0 Good nrate 10 A little high, but nothing really to worry about a .05 If this is ammonia, them this is high What are your water cahnge routines, ie. frequecy and amout. Do you run a skimmer? Do you run any GAC(granular actived carbon)? do you run and GFO(Granular ferric oxide) or phosphate media?

What are you using to monitor your PH?
I would hold off with the PH buffer for now too. With 10% weekly water changes I would think your params would be a little better. What kind of sat are you using? I don't know if this will really help or not, but I would suggest upping your water change frequency and amount for a while. See if you can get your hands on some GAC and GFO and run those in a reactor of some sort.

I've had mine lose some color for a couple days at a time but it always bounces right back.

renne, IME none of the titration kits for PH are very good, its very difficult to get good results with those.
Instant ocean is a great salt. You can get a media bag of some sort and fill it with carbon and sump it in the area of your sump that seems to have the best flow.

There is an article floating around here that explains how to safely lower pH using vinegar or carbonated water, whatever you end up doing you always want to do it in small amounts over time to slowly adjust it.
