Pump and piping
Hey all, trying to get together the new system after the house fire... Tank is in, working on some aquascaping.
I am split on pumps, I have 2 drains 1.25" and 2". Not a whole lot of head besides the 5' from the sump... I am running the pump to an oceans motions unit eventually but not closed loop. Scared to death about messing up this tank drilling for CL. There will be 1 main return splitting into 4. Now... as far as the pump is concerned..I was looking at the OR6500 which would put me around 650 gpm incorporating head loss... This will be running in the sump... Is that too large of a pump that will make it sound like a toilet running all the time? This is for a 115 gallon with 40g sump. Thanks for all the input.. |

I have always gone the route of 10X's the water volume for flow. I read it someplace, I don't remember were but have never had any problems with that rule. I would go with something around 1500gph. If you have to you can throttle the flow back and divert it back to the sump. I don't think you will have to by much though.
