Flatworms...ugh!!!!

Ok, I was a big dummy and didn't dip a coral before I put it in my tank. The wife was in a big hurry to go somewhere.....you know the story. I see people use Flatwork exit and some use a Pig Dewormer both with mixed reviews. I got a Sixline but he just seems to look at them and swim away. I don't think I have a bad case yet because they are no mats of them on the sand or corals. I see about 6 on my glass and 1 or 2 on the sandbed. I know there is alot more hidden but I am hoping since I just have a few visable that maybe I don't have a really bad case yet.

My questions are 1. Should I give the Sixline a little more time to see if he starts feeding on them (I have only had him 2 days)? 2.Go ahead and get a box of Flatworm Exit and dose the tank before it gets any worse? 3. My LFS said that they had something called Blue Vet Flatworm Control (Does anybody have any experince with this and if so how well does it work??)

Thanks,
Ron

I have successfully used Blue Vet Flat Worm exit successfully but had to dose the tank three times, one dosing each week. No problems at all in treating my sps dominated reef. Good luck.

Syphon out as many as you can while doing a water change, then dose the tank. Have plenty of carbon on had. Even though you think you don't have many, they release toxins when they die and have the potential to nuke a tank, so be ready to syphon while they are dying as well. Turn off all pumps/skimmer too.

I recently made a mistake that someone who has been in the hobby for a while should not do. I dosed my tank with Flatworm Exit without fully understanding the extent of my infestation. Long story short, I lost four beautiful tangs. Since the damage has been done, I will treat for a second time next week and eradicate the tank completely. Never under estimate the amount you have. My tank turned orange. It is not the products fault, it worked very well. I simply did not follow the warnings. If you have a small issue, take care of it right away. It could cost you alot later.

You have to leave on your pumps and the skimmer. That is in the directions. The skimmer will begin removing the toxins right away. As soon as you see the bodies floating turn on the carbon. I learned all of this the hard way. In a Panic.

Keep plenty of water on hand and continue to siphon them out as they are dying.

ok, I treated my tank this morning with Blue Vet Flatworm Control. I siphoned out the flatworms as they would start floating around. I ran my skimmer and my carbon and did a 25% water change about 1 hour after dosing. Now I have just 1 or 2 flatworms visable crawling on my glass again. The bottle says wait 24hrs before dosing again. So should I wait 24 hours and dose again late tomorrow evening or wait about a week so not to take a chance and stress any fish or corals? They have shown no sign of stress so far.
