LiterMeter III as a feed pump for a calcium reactor?

I have been doing my research in anticipation of buying my first calcium reactor setup. I think I'll be going with the Vertex RX4 Calcium Reactor and the AquariumPlants Electronic Co2 Regulator. I'm a little confused on the following:

1. This setup is going to be 5' below my sump. Can I use my LiterMeter pump as the feed pump to the calc reactor? The effluent would then have to travel the 5' back up to the sump. I'm assuming the pressure from the feed pump pushing would do this. Or do I connect the LiterMeter to the effluent tube and pull the water up the 5' to the sump and use gravity feed or a maxi-jet as my feed pump?

2. Does the effluent have to be a constant flow? I've been dosing kalk with the LiterMeter and it's an on/off cycle. Will that on/off cycle work with the calc reactor?

Thanks,
Dan
