sounds like normal tank cycle. less light time if possible metal halide bailin on glass. try to direct flow off of glass or maybe a wayvee sea or up your pump to a mag 12 dave

How old is tank??

Nitrates?
Nitrites?
Amonia?
Phosphates?
Temp?
Lighting Schedule?
Are you running GFO?
Carbon?

if your algae builds up in 10 hrs, sounds like a serious excess nutrient problem. As shane says, best way we can help is telling us about the params.

12 hours is a little long. I would target more like 8-10. A few Trochus snails might help with the glass, but the tank is new, so I might just wait a bit. Changing the temperature won't help much, but it's fine as is.

I had this problem and I got a simple ViaAqua reactor with some gfo and changed my lights for 15k to 20K and within this last week not only has my glass algae gone but my red slime problem has disappeared also. I keep the MH's on for 8 hours only. I had them on for 10 but that seems to also contribute somewhat.

The corals should be fine with a shorter light cycle and the MH up a bit.

New tanks always get algae. Usually it just dies off after a bit but if you want to keep it to a minimum just do what others have suggested. I just live with it for the first couple of weeks. It's normal.
