I do two weeks for fish, but I think a lot of people do six. I haven't had it happen, but if a fish wasn't eating properly yet I wouldn't put it in the new tank till it did. I'm floating a fish as I type

Bare minimum of 4 weeks, preferably 6 to 8. Anything shorter than 4 leaves a high likelihood of missing some common parasites such as ich.

Ich is prevalent enough that I would treat right off the bat.

I speak from experience, QT everything for at least 4 weeks. I lost my frozen-mysis eating mandarin due to not QT'ing a Kole Tang my wife wanted. Not only did I lose the mandarin, but a banggai and the Tang. Now everybody is in my QT tank while I wait for the ich to cycle through the main tank with no hosts...

That's good advice for the future. I guess I'll start qt'n longer then. No probs so far, but I won't risk it anymore

I always treat fish actively in QT for at least eight weeks against ich to eradicate it.

All commercial sources (also that of any water) , no exceptions.
