Talking Tell Me Your Experience

Who has the best live sand? I need good quality live sand that has all the critters in it! I am starting over from the bottom up. If you feel that your live rock is the best...I'm listening

Thanks everyone!

Hey a fellow Iowan! If you want true live sand then you might check out www.tampabaysaltwater.com , I've ordered sand and rock from them in the past and was very happy. The rock and sand was shipped out at 8:30 am and I picked it up at the airport at 4pm that afternoon. It was shipped in water and you know its fresh when you open the box then the bag and the feather dusters are already extended and there was a small goby swimming around. Yes it's expensive but you can also buy some sand dry and seed it with this sand after your up and running.

Yes, I live about 50 miles from the "City" I have been looking at TBS and wondered how long it would take to ship. What airline did it come on? Where at the airport did you pick it up? Did you put in your dry sand first and layer the live sand over it? Did you have trouble with "bad hitchikers"? How much was your shipping (amount of sand and rock purchased)? Did you have any problems with algae? Were there a lot of sponges on your rock-and did they all die?

I was thinking of getting the 29g "package" for my 29 tank and then moving it to my 135 after the cycle. I'm needing to remove all my rock and sand from my 135 (copper) but I need to keep my fish in it as I don't have enough room for them in the 29g. How long have you been in to SW?
