Auto Top Off
If I am not hooking the RO/DI up to the tank and just using a 10-32g trash can, can I just use a drip valve? Is there any reason I would need a float switch? I will be mixing kalk for the top off.

You should use a float valve instead because a drip valve will hurt the efficiency of your Ro/DI. Plus if you leave home for an extended period and forget to shut it off, it still has the possibility of overlfowing with a drip valve (even though it would take a long time).

I wouldn't trust any physical float valve or the like for a tank. They fail far too frequently. I used a dual float switch with a peristaltic pump that was turned down to a very low flow.

I am simply putting a 10-32g trash can above the water line and dripping it into the tank, I have done this for years with my 2.5g container and wondering if it would be an issue with a larger container.

Sorry to hijack this, but why dont you trust a physical float valve? I was planing on using one in my 50gal saltmixer/fresh water top off system. |

I use a diy contraption with a 2 gallon resiorvoir. Works great with no issues other that topping off the top off every other day. Just because I'm too lazy to run a water line

Physical float valves can get stuck open, especially when the limewater starts precipitating inside them. I've just seen too many pictures of the results. I don't even trust a single float switch.
